Information for Host Labs

Considerations for a Successful Internship

  • Primary mentors must be graduate students or postdocs
  • 7-week high school research projects require considerable planning and daily supervision from primary mentors
  • Research projects for high school students must follow the Provost’s policies for Minors Participating in Research or Clinical Activities
  • Primary mentors should prioritize intern learning and experience by adapting projects based on student progress

Support

The YPRI team supports both student interns and host laboratories during all stages of the internship to provide a mutually beneficial summer experience. We assist labs by providing administrative, logistical, and project planning support, including registration of minors in EHS Integrator.  YPRI also works with a team of Yale undergraduate and graduate students to cultivate a sense of community for the high school interns and provide professional development workshops and other small group mentorship activities. Student interns receive an educational stipend of $2,500.
